Daniel D. Moseley is an Assistant Professor of Bioethics and Interdisciplinary Studies in the Brody School of Medicine at East Carolina University. He is involved in medical student and resident training. Dr. Moseley teaches sections of ETHC 8000 and ETHC 9000 to Foundations phase medical students and leads a monthly Bioethics session for Psychiatry residents. He also organizes a reading and research group for Psychiatry residents interested in the interface of Ethics, Philosophy and Psychiatry. He also serves on the Ethics Consultation Service.

Dr. Moseley received his Ph.D in Philosophy from the University of Virginia. He has also completed a NIH-funded T32 postdoctoral fellowship at the UNC School of Nursing on Evaluating Health Care Quality and Patient Outcomes under the mentorship of Dr. Eric Juengst. He then completed a NIH-funded, joint UNC/Duke T32 training program on Mental Health Services and Systems Research under the mentorship of Dr. Jeffrey Swanson.

Dr. Moseley has over twenty years of teaching experience in higher education. He has taught Philosophy and Ethics courses at UVA, James Madison University, UNC-Chapel Hill and Elon University. In addition, he has been involved in adult education, teaching a “Practical Ethics” course at Granville Correctional Center in Butner, NC, and he has experience with professional training in ethics, including ethics training sessions for AHEC

Prior to arriving at ECU in August 2024, Dr. Moseley was a Research Instructor in the Department of Psychiatry, a Research Assistant Professor in the Department of Social Medicine, a Core Faculty Member of the Center for Bioethics, and an Affiliated Faculty Member in the Department of Philosophy at The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Dr. Moseley works broadly in the areas of Bioethics, Practical Ethics, Moral Psychology, Philosophy of Mind, Philosophy of Law and Political Philosophy. His current research is in the areas of Psychiatric Ethics, Neuroethics and Global Health Ethics.
